What it does
AI Game Developer, published as Godot-MCP, is the Godot counterpart of the same author's Unity-MCP. It is a C# editor add-on that exposes the Godot editor to AI agents over MCP, together with a godot-cli command-line tool that installs the add-on, signs you in and writes the MCP config for your agent.
The add-on ships 23 built-in tools. A query language called RQL lets the agent read and change scene nodes, properties, resources, files, project settings, input actions, TileSets and themes in one undoable step. Other tools create, edit, validate and attach GDScript and C# scripts, capture the viewport, a camera or a single node as an image, and read logs and runtime errors from the running game. It can also regenerate SKILL.md files for your agent from the tools your editor has registered.
It requires the C#/.NET build of Godot 4.3 or newer with the .NET 8 SDK; the standard GDScript-only build can't compile the add-on. By default it connects through the author's ai-game.dev cloud, and a self-hosted server is also supported.
