AI Tools for Game Modding
Modders already use AI to sharpen textures, make props, voice new lines, write scripts and translate mods. The tools are mostly the same ones game developers use. What's different for modding is the rules: Nexus Mods, Modrinth, CurseForge, Bethesda, Mojang and Roblox each treat AI differently, and breaking those rules can get a mod hidden or removed. Read the full guide.

Before you upload
- Nexus Mods: Tags are required: AI-Generated Content, AI Media or AI Assisted. Mistagging is a Terms of Service breach and may lead to moderation action.
- Modrinth: Since August 13, 2026, projects can't be entirely or primarily AI-generated, substantial AI use needs the "Contains AI-generated content" disclosure, and no AI-generated images anywhere on a project page.
- CurseForge: Any AI-modified showcase image that may misrepresent the mod must carry a clear, visible disclaimer, on the image or in the description.
- Bethesda paid Creations: Paid Creations "cannot contain anything produced through generative AI". This applies to Bethesda's own marketplace, not to sites like Nexus.
- Minecraft EULA: You can distribute original Java mods, but you can't sell them or try to make money from them.
- Roblox: Creators keep rights to their AI prompts and outputs but grant Roblox a license to that data. Free Creator Store assets are shared for AI training by default.
- Voice-cloning consent: Don't clone a real actor's voice without written permission. That's the core of Nexus's guidance, and ElevenLabs bans it outright.
