GodotMaker

Agent skill by RandallLiuXin · for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Pi

A CLI and skill set that turns a game idea into a playable 2D Godot 4 prototype. Agents write a design doc, build the game, write tests, play it, take screenshots and fix problems until it passes, running in Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Pi.

Install

npm install -g godotmaker-cli

Run it in a terminal, then start a new agent session so the skill loads. Read the repo's README and scripts before you install: skills run with your agent's permissions.

What it does

GodotMaker is a workflow layer for building 2D Godot games with a coding agent. You install its command-line tool, describe a game idea, and it shapes that idea into a GDD.md design document with tasks, scenes, systems, assets and acceptance criteria. Then agents plan, implement the gameplay in Godot, generate draft art, and keep going without you driving each step.

Along the way the agents write gdUnit4 unit tests, create end-to-end tests that play the game like a player, run the game, capture screenshots and compare the result against the design document. Missing behavior, broken UI and visual problems go back into a fix loop. The README says a small prototype usually takes about 5 to 8 hours of agent runtime, and the output is a normal Godot project on your disk.

The CLI can run Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Pi, and the role commands (gm-*) can also be called directly inside those agents. As of October 2026 the project is preparing for a public alpha: it targets 2D games only, and the README lists pixel art, TileMaps and audio generation as not yet supported.

Features

  • Turns a game idea into a GDD and a full Godot 4 project
  • Writes gdUnit4 unit tests and player-style end-to-end tests
  • Runs the game, takes screenshots and fixes what fails
  • Runs unattended through a build, test and fix loop
  • Works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Pi

Limits

  • 2D only; no pixel art, TileMap or audio generation yet
  • Long runs (about 5 to 8 hours per prototype) use a lot of agent capacity
  • Source-available BUSL 1.1 license, not open source
