What it does
This is Epic Games' official plugin for driving the Unreal Editor from Claude Code. It pairs an unreal-mcp skill, which holds the instructions and workflows, with Unreal's own Model Context Protocol server, which exposes hundreds of editor tools across more than 30 toolsets. A session-start hook tells Claude the project is an Unreal project so it uses Unreal conventions.
The tools cover actors and scenes, Blueprints, assets and data tables, materials, meshes and textures, Control Rigs and State Trees, Sequencer, Niagara VFX, UMG and Slate UI, gameplay tags, Gameplay Ability System state, Game Feature plugins, physics assets, C++ automation tests and editor screenshots. A scripting tool can batch many calls into one Python script inside the editor.
The plugin is listed in Anthropic's official Claude Code plugin marketplace. You need the Unreal Editor running with the ModelContextProtocol and AllToolsets plugins enabled and the MCP server started. Epic's README warns that the plugin gives Claude broad, live access to the editor, including running arbitrary Python, and advises saving and committing before long sessions.
